Winter Tyres in Türkiye: New Rule Takes Effect on 15 November 2025

Türkiye is introducing a new requirement: starting 15 November 2025, all commercial cargo and passenger vehicles travelling on intercity roads must use winter tyres.

New Active Period: 15 November–15 April (previously started on 1 December)

Fine: The penalty for non-compliance is ₺5,856, so vehicle owners are advised to prepare early.

Why Winter Tyres Matter

Winter tyres aren't just for snow — they provide much better grip at temperatures below +7°C, making them essential in cold or rainy weather. Even private car owners are encouraged to switch early to reduce road-safety risks.

Winter tyres significantly improve vehicle handling and braking performance in cold conditions, enhancing safety for all road users.

Prices for Winter Tyres & Services

  • Small sizes: ₺2,000–5,000 per tyre
  • Large tyres: up to ₺15,000 each
  • Installation/removal: ₺1,000–1,500
  • Seasonal storage: usually similar to installation cost

💡 Tip: Tyre service centres across Türkiye expect their usual seasonal rush, so booking an appointment in advance is highly recommended.

Planning Ahead: Early preparation ensures you avoid both the seasonal rush and potential fines when the new regulation takes effect.
