Türkiye to Eliminate «Hidden Fees» on Online Food Delivery

Türkiye to Eliminate «Hidden Fees» on Online Food Delivery

Türkiye is introducing new rules for online food delivery platforms to make prices transparent for both restaurants and customers. The regulations aim to end long-standing complaints about high commissions and hidden charges that have plagued the sector.

📋 What's Changing?

Under the new regulations:

  • ✅ All platform fees must be clearly visible to restaurants in their seller dashboards
  • ✅ Customers will see a detailed breakdown of all charges at checkout
  • ❌ Platforms are prohibited from charging arbitrary fees for "basic services" such as order processing, payment handling, and order management
  • 💰 Commissions will now be calculated based on the actual price of the order — if a restaurant offers a discount, the fee will only apply to the amount the customer actually pays

⚖️ Why Now?

The move comes after numerous complaints from both restaurants and consumers about:

  • 📈 High commission rates eating into restaurant profits
  • 🔍 Hidden charges appearing only at final checkout
  • 🧮 Complex and opaque pricing structures
  • 💸 Arbitrary fees for standard operational services

⏰ Compliance Deadline

Delivery services must comply with the new transparency rules by April 1, 2026.

"This regulation ensures that both restaurants and customers know exactly what they're paying for — no surprises, no hidden fees."

🔍 What This Means for You

For customers: You'll finally see a clear breakdown of delivery fees, service charges, and taxes before confirming your order.

For restaurants: Full visibility into what platforms are charging and commissions based only on what customers actually pay — not menu prices.

⏳ Deadline: April 1, 2026 — Full transparency required
