New Urban Railways Coming to 4 Turkish Provinces
🚆 Urban Railway Lines to Appear for the First Time in Four Turkish Provinces
Turkish Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the start of major projects: urban railway systems will be built for the first time in Samsun, Trabzon, Erzincan, and Erzurum.
📏 Planned Lines
- Samsun — 13.3 km
- Trabzon — 32 km
- Erzincan — 12 km
- Erzurum — 15 km
These projects will be the first of their scale for the Black Sea Region and Eastern Anatolia.
🇹🇷 Current Situation Across the Country
Urban railway lines totaling 1,036 km are already operational in 12 provinces.
- Of these: 434 km were built by the ministry
- 602 km were built by municipalities
The ministry is currently building and planning an additional 853 km of new lines.
Active work continues in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Sakarya, İzmir, Afyon, Konya, Antalya, and Ankara.

- 122 km of new lines are under construction
- Another 297 km are being prepared for launch
