Istanbul Airport Tops Europe Again in Flight Numbers

Istanbul Airport has once again been named Europe’s busiest airport, recording an average of 1,556 daily flights between October 13–19, Türkiye’s Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced on Friday.

The hub outperformed major European airports including Amsterdam Schiphol, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and London Heathrow, according to data from Eurocontrol.

Meanwhile, Antalya Airport ranked ninth in Europe with an average of 957 daily flights, confirming Türkiye’s strong position in regional aviation.

Across the country, Türkiye ranked sixth in Europe for overall air traffic, averaging 3,841 flights per day, surpassing Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Norway.

Globally, Istanbul Airport secured the 7th position among the top 25 airports worldwide, with an average of 790 daily departures during the same week.
