Antalya Joins Euromonitor’s 2025 Top 10 Tourism Destinations

Antalya Enters Top 10 Global Tourism Destinations for First Time

Antalya, Türkiye’s Mediterranean tourism hub, has made history by entering Euromonitor International’s top 10 global tourism destinations for the first time. The city ranked fifth in the 2025 edition, according to the London-based market research firm.

Quality Over Quantity: A New Benchmark

While Türkiye has featured on the most-visited cities list with Istanbul and Antalya, experts note that the destination ranking reflects long-term tourism quality and sustainability. Recep Yavuz, head of Antalya City Council’s tourism working group, explained that Euromonitor evaluates over 50 indicators, including:

  • Infrastructure and economic impact
  • Employment potential and policy consistency
  • Health, safety, and security standards
  • Environmental and social sustainability
“Tourism growth is now assessed not just by visitor numbers but by balanced development that protects natural resources and local life,” Yavuz said.

Keys to Antalya's Success

Antalya’s diverse tourism offerings, geographic advantages, modern airport, resort accommodations, family-friendly services, technology, and harmony with nature were all cited as critical factors contributing to its high ranking.

The 2025 Top 10 Global Destinations

In the prestigious 2025 top 10, Antalya stands out as the only classic resort city. The full list includes:

  1. Orlando
  2. New York
  3. Mecca
  4. Paris
  5. Antalya
  6. Medina
  7. Los Angeles
  8. Dubai
  9. Cancun
  10. Kyoto

Euromonitor’s separate most-visited cities ranking also lists Antalya among the top 10, following Istanbul.

The Future: Value and Sustainability

Looking ahead, Antalya aims to strengthen its position by focusing on value-oriented, year-round tourism. Strategic priorities include:

  • Developing sports and adventure tourism
  • Expanding congress and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) tourism
  • Hosting more cultural events and festivals
  • Implementing stronger sustainability-driven policies

Note for Investors & Businesses: This ranking signifies a shift in global tourism valuation. Future success in Antalya will depend on aligning with these quality and sustainability benchmarks, not just capacity growth.

This historic achievement marks Antalya's transition from a volume-driven sun-and-sea destination to a globally recognized, quality-focused tourism leader.
