Alanya Paves Way for Future Tram System with Strategic Roadworks

Alanya Paves Way for Future Tram System with Strategic Roadworks

🚊 Alanya is taking a step into the future — preparations have begun for rail transport!

Starting November 3, roadworks will begin on Atatürk Street — but this is more than just a regular renovation.

A Strategic Vision for Development

Mayor Osman Tıraşık Özçelik confirmed that the works are being carried out “with care and with the future in mind” — paving the way for a modern tram line that will one day run along Alanya’s coastline.

“We’ve already relocated all underground utilities and reserved space for the tracks — so we won’t have to dig everything up again later,”
— Mayor Osman Tıraşık Özçelik

📅 Start date: November 3 — the launch of the project to prepare infrastructure for Alanya’s future tram system.

An Eco-Friendly Approach

🌿 Mayor Özçelik emphasized that the city’s nature will be preserved with great care: each tree will be individually assessed — healthy ones will remain, while those that are diseased will be replaced with new, young trees.

Principles for Working with Green Areas:

  • Individual inspection of every tree by specialists
  • Preservation of all healthy trees
  • Replacement of diseased trees with young saplings
  • Additional planting to compensate for removed vegetation

🌱 Environmental responsibility: The project aims to preserve as much of Alanya’s existing green infrastructure as possible.

Responsibility Toward the Future

“It’s a risky project, but let the risk be for the sake of the city. This city is more important than me,”
— Mayor Osman Tıraşık Özçelik

Key Advantages of the Project

  • Early preparation of infrastructure for future rail transport
  • Environmentally responsible landscaping approach
  • Reduced future construction costs
  • Strategic urban development planning

Alanya's Vision for the Future

💛 Alanya continues to grow, evolve, and dream — in its own unique way.

And who knows — perhaps soon we really will ride a tram to the sea, chasing the sunset.

Looking Ahead

If completed, the project will make Alanya one of the first resort cities in Turkey to have a modern tram system — setting an example for sustainable and forward-looking urban transport.
