Turksat Aims to Become Global Player in 2026
Türkiye's sole satellite operator, Turksat, plans to expand its reach globally in 2026, aiming to offer satellite services and e-Government solutions beyond Türkiye, CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay told Anadolu Agency.
Corporate Transformation and Infrastructure Development
This year, Turksat focused on corporate transformation and infrastructure projects to support international expansion.
"We started an in-flight Internet connection (IFC) project, which will position us as a regional and then a global player," Atalay said.
The IFC service will debut in early 2026 on AJet aircraft, developed in collaboration with TCI Aircraft Interiors, a Turkish Airlines subsidiary.

Satellite Fleet Modernization
Atalay confirmed that Turksat 7A will replace the aging Turksat 3A satellite to meet growing demand for internet connectivity and live broadcasting.
Launch Timeline: The new satellite is scheduled for launch no later than 2030.
Data Center Expansion
Data centers are another strategic focus for Turksat's global ambitions:
- New high-capacity facility planned in Golbasi, Ankara
- Capacity will be eight times larger than current storage
- Designed to support advanced services including artificial intelligence
- Tender process expected to conclude in January 2025
- Construction scheduled to begin next year
Global e-Government Platform Export
Türkiye's e-Government portal, offering 8,800 services and handling 4 billion citizen operations annually, is set for international deployment.
Current Progress:
- Compact version already launched in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)
- Active negotiations with neighboring countries including Romania
- Platform customization for international markets underway
Strategic Vision for 2026
Turksat's CEO outlined the company's comprehensive global strategy:
"At Turksat, our goal for 2026 and beyond is to become a regional and then a global player in satellite services and other service sectors," Atalay said.
Global Strategy: Through satellite modernization, in-flight connectivity, data center expansion, and e-Government exports, Turksat is positioning itself to compete on the international stage by 2026.
