Türkiye to Release 11.6 Million Barrels of Oil from Strategic Reserves
Türkiye will release 11.6 million barrels of oil from its strategic reserves to support global efforts to stabilize energy markets, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced.
Global coordination through IEA
The decision follows an initiative by the International Energy Agency (IEA) to release emergency oil reserves amid rising global prices. According to Bayraktar, Türkiye’s National Oil Stock Committee approved the release of 2.9% of the country’s total reserves, which currently stand at around 400 million barrels.

🌍 IEA emergency action
Earlier this week, the IEA announced a record release of 400 million barrels of oil from emergency reserves to help ease pressure on global markets. The move comes as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have pushed oil prices above $100 per barrel.
⛽ Natural gas update
The minister also noted that natural gas supplies to Türkiye remain stable, adding that warmer weather has reduced the country’s demand for imports, including gas from Iran.
Türkiye’s decision to release part of its reserves is part of broader international efforts to maintain stability in global energy markets during a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
