When Are School Holidays in Turkey in 2026?

The 2025–2026 academic year in Turkey is well underway, and families are preparing for the upcoming breaks. The official calendar, set by the Ministry of National Education, provides clear dates for students and parents to plan the year.

Mid-Year (Semester) Winter Break

The first semester concludes in mid-January 2026. Students will receive their first-term report cards on Friday, January 16, 2026. Following this, the mid-year holiday begins.

Holiday Period: January 19–30, 2026

During these dates, classes are suspended in all public schools across Turkey. The second semester begins on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Complete 2025–2026 Academic Holiday Calendar

Here is the full schedule of breaks for the school year:

  • Mid-Year (Semester) Break: January 19 – 30, 2026
  • Spring Break (Second Term): March 16 – 20, 2026
  • Summer Holidays: Begin after classes end on Friday, June 26, 2026.
"The academic calendar is designed to ensure a balanced distribution of instructional time and rest periods, supporting both educational progress and student well-being," - Turkish Ministry of National Education.

Important Information for Parents

While the dates are standardized nationally, there are key points to remember:

  • The calendar is officially approved by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı).
  • Most private schools adhere to this schedule, but parents should always confirm exact dates directly with their child's school, as minor adjustments can occur.
  • Local administrative holidays may also apply.

Note: The 2026 Ramadan Feast (Ramazan Bayramı) and Feast of Sacrifice (Kurban Bayramı) dates, which are public holidays, will be announced later and may fall within the academic calendar.
