Turkey Population 2025: 85.98 Million & Balanced Gender
Turkey’s Population Reaches 85.98 Million in 2025, Gender Balance Nearly Equal
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released updated demographic data, confirming that Turkey’s population reached 85,980,654 as of 1 October 2025. The new figures highlight continued demographic growth and a remarkably balanced gender distribution across the country.
Population Growth in 2025
According to TÜİK, Turkey added 315,710 new residents during the first nine months of 2025, including 155,800 between July and October. For comparison, the country closed 2024 with a population of 85,664,944 people.
This trend indicates a stable increase that aligns with Turkey’s long-term demographic trajectory.
Updated demographic data remain essential for social and economic planning, helping authorities distribute national resources more efficiently.
Balanced Gender Ratio
Turkey continues to maintain one of the most balanced gender distributions in the region. The differences between the number of men and women remain statistically minimal, indicating a near-perfect demographic equilibrium.
- Men: 50.02% — 43,003,770 people
- Women: 49.98% — 42,976,884 people
The balance reflects long-term demographic stability and positions Turkey among the countries with the most even gender ratio globally.
Demographic Trend: Steady and Moderate Growth
The newly published figures confirm a moderate yet steady increase in population. Experts highlight that such growth supports Turkey’s economic activity, labor market dynamics, and urban development plans.
As population numbers evolve, national institutions rely on these updates to refine policies in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and regional planning.
Regional Data to Be Released Soon
While the current announcement focuses on national figures, TÜİK is expected to publish detailed regional distributions in the coming weeks. These reports traditionally include:
- population changes across major provinces;
- internal migration patterns;
- age group breakdowns;
- urban vs. rural demographic shifts.
Such insights are crucial for understanding regional development trends and planning future investments.
