Russian Bank VTB Launches a New Service to Simplify Payments in Turkey

Russian bank VTB has introduced a new service that significantly simplifies payments in Turkey. Now, bank clients can make purchases in stores and shopping centers across the country using a QR code through the VTB Online mobile application.

How Does It Work?

The payment process is extremely simple:

  • In a store or restaurant, the client needs to open VTB Online, select the QR code payment function, and scan the code on the receipt or terminal using their smartphone camera.
  • The funds are debited in rubles, with automatic conversion into Turkish lira.
  • No transaction fee is charged.

Expanding Opportunities for Clients

The launch of this new feature in Turkey is part of VTB’s global strategy to develop convenient international payment solutions. The service is already successfully operating in several neighboring countries, including Tajikistan.

In 2024, retail clients of VTB made 2.1 million transfers in friendly countries' currencies, six times more than in 2023. The total transaction volume exceeded 50.5 billion rubles.

Today, VTB Online users can send money to more than 100 countries using various methods:

  • Transfers via phone number or card
  • Transactions via banking details
  • Cash withdrawals at foreign banks

VTB Continues to Expand International Payment Solutions

In 2024, the bank plans to further develop its services to facilitate seamless transactions abroad. The new QR code payment system in Turkey makes traveling and shopping for Russian clients even more convenient, eliminating the need for cash or additional cards.
