Domestic Tourism Spending in Türkiye Rises Nearly 35% in Q3 2025

Domestic tourism expenditures in Türkiye increased by 34.8% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, reaching TL 276.1 billion, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

More than 21.5 million residents traveled within the country between July and September, reflecting strong domestic travel demand during the peak summer season.

Spending Composition and Trip Volume

Individual travel accounted for the vast majority of spending, totaling TL 233.5 billion or 84.5% of overall expenditures, while package tours made up 15.5%, amounting to TL 42.7 billion.

The number of domestic trips involving at least one overnight stay rose by 5.5% compared to the same period last year, exceeding 27 million trips.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Overnight Stays: Domestic travelers recorded 230.8 million overnight stays in the quarter.
  • Average Stay Length: The average stay was 8.5 nights, a significant increase from 5.8 nights in the previous quarter (Q2).

Expenditure Breakdown by Category

Spending was mainly concentrated in three key areas, highlighting sustained demand across tourism-related sectors:

  1. Food and Beverages: 29.4%
  2. Accommodation: 23.8%
  3. Transportation: 19.3%
The data, sourced from TurkStat, indicates a robust domestic tourism market, serving as a critical economic stabilizer during the summer quarter.

The sharp rise in both expenditure and average length of stay points to a deepening domestic travel market, providing substantial revenue for hospitality, dining, and transport services nationwide.
