Solar power to create 180,000 jobs in Turkey by 2023

At the moment, the total installed power of solar power plants in Turkey stands at 850 megawatts. As Turkey aims to increase the capacity in the coming years to 5,000 megawatts based on solar power by 2023, it was emphasized that around 180,000 people will be required for the target to be reached.
Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Energy Working Group Executive Professor Ibrahim Dinçer emphasized the need for human resources in addition to the technology infrastructure and investments in solar power. "In the phase of the installation of a solar power plant, the workforce of 33 people per megawatt is required, while 10 people for the same value are required to work during the production phase.
In order to reach the capacity of 5,000 megawatts in the area, Turkey needs human resources of approximately 180,000 people," he said.
Emphasizing the importance of qualified human resources to work in the sector, Dinçer said that, accordingly, the development of vocational and technical education has come to the agenda.
