04/05/12 ISTANBUL poised for another shopping festival

From 9 to 29 June of 2012, Istanbul invites you to the second shopping festival Shopping Fest 2012. This time was selected in a view of the Turkish school holidays, as well as neighboring countries. The upcoming event will offer customers tremendous discounts - up to 50% of value of goods. According to preliminary calculations, the festival will bring the total revenue of 7 billion liras.

The past year has shown that the event helped to increase the flow of tourists into the country 15% more, increase in trade - by 26% more. Total for June 2011 Istanbul visited more than 773,000 visitors. This year, organizers are hoping for at least 850,000 tourists. The most active buyers at the festival were Iranians, Azerbaijanis and Russians. Overall profit activities was 252 million Turkish liras. Last year, Turkey was visited by about 31.5 million travelers, including 8 million visitors in Istanbul.

According to a current plan, in 2012,  the city will have over 10 million visitors. Istanbul has been known for its excellent shopping opportunities. One of the most popular locations - the Grand Bazaar, where you can buy various souvenirs, carpets, bags and a lot of other goods at a good price. Almost all shops, malls, markets, commercially available inexpensive antiques, furs and crafts.

There are large number of shops - on the Istiklal, Beyazit, Cumhuriyet avenues, and in areas of Sisli and Nisantasi. Shopping in Istanbul is attractive because many global brands manufacture their products here, therefore any kind of customs and transport margins on things are missing, which make a proce lower than for example, in Europe.
