FOREIGN TOURISTS ARE ALLOWED TO BE GIVEN A MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IN TURKISH PUBLIC HOSPITALS

Public hospitals in Turkey started to provide medical services for foreign tourists. This is announced in the statement of the Federal Tourism Agency (Rostourism).

The agency noted that about the changes in terms of medical service for foreign tourists in Turkey, Rosturizm was informed by the Turkish Embassy in Moscow. The Embassy has received a letter from the Ministry of Health of Turkey with a thorough explanation of the issue.

In particular, the incoming letter states that actually medical services for foreign tourists were usually given in private hospitals, but since June 13, 2011 these services are provided by public hospitals under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of Turkey.

Foreign citizens and tourists who need a medical treatment in Turkey are advised to contact the ambulance centre by dialing 112, or 184, to seek for a medical care.

As part of the innovations, in the six provinces of Turkey (Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Mugla, Aydin) regional coordinating centers for foreign nationals were organized
