Most foreigners work in Istanbul

Currently, 105,000 foreign citizens are granted work permits in Turkey. Almost 40,000 of these are citizens of Syria.

It is noteworthy that almost every fourth foreigner who works in Turkey has a higher education.

Most foreign citizens work in Istanbul, and less is in the province of Kocaeli. As a rule, foreigners in Turkey are engaged in services. They are guides, workers in the food and hospitality sector, workers of hotels and entertainment establishments.

With the start of the tourist season, the number of foreign seasonal workers is increasing. According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, all foreigners are carefully checked for work permits. If there is none, then the workers face serious problems up to expulsion from the country.
