Turkey Closes Border to Iranian Citizens, Cargo Transit Continues
Turkey has temporarily closed its border to Iranian citizens, while commercial cargo transit continues as usual. One-day passenger trips across the border have been suspended on a mutual basis.
The announcement was made by Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat. Speaking to Halk TV, he said:
📢 Official Statement: "At all three border checkpoints with Iran – Ağrı-Gürbulak, Van-Çapıkay, and Hakkari-Esendere – there is no emergency situation. Cargo transport continues under controlled conditions, while one-day passenger trips have been suspended mutually."
Turkey allows its own citizens and third-country nationals to enter from Iran.
