5th Edition of İstanbul Photo Awards 2025 Opens Exhibition in Sakarya
SAKARYA — The fifth exhibition of the prestigious İstanbul Photo Awards 2025, organized by Anadolu Agency, has opened in the northwestern Turkish province of Sakarya. The showcase presents award-winning photographs selected by an international jury from nearly 22,000 global submissions.

Exhibition Details and International Reach
The exhibition, featuring winning works from all 10 categories of the international news photography competition, is being held at the Ofis Art Center. It is part of the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality’s December cultural and arts program and will remain open to the public until January 11, 2026.
This Sakarya showing continues the collection's international tour, following successful exhibitions in:
- Ankara
- Istanbul
- New York
- Madrid
"We Record History": A Commitment to Photojournalism
At the opening ceremony, Anadolu’s Türkiye News Director, Hasan Ay, highlighted the agency's deep commitment to the field.
“We do not merely press the shutter; we record history,” Ay said, emphasizing photography's power as a tool for documenting global realities.
Ay provided key statistics about the competition's scale and Anadolu's output:
- Photographers from 114 countries participated in the 2025 awards.
- Anadolu distributed over 1 million photographs worldwide in the past year.
Sponsorship and Future Competition
The 2025 competition enjoys significant support from leading Turkish organizations:
- Turkcell as communications sponsor.
- Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) as overseas events sponsor.
- Turkish Airlines as a partial transportation sponsor.
Applications for the 2026 İstanbul Photo Awards are now open. The competition will award a total prize fund of $58,000 across categories including News, Sports, Nature, Portrait, and Daily Life.
The submission deadline is January 9, 2026.
