Turkey’s largest state‑owned bank, Ziraat Bank, reported a net profit of 161 billion Turkish lira (TRY) for 2025. According to an official statement, the bank’s total assets rose 57% to reach 8.5 trillion TRY.
📈 Strong asset and capital growth
The bank delivered solid financial results, focusing on strategic areas that contribute to the national economy. Shareholders’ equity increased by 55%, maintaining a strong financial structure and a balanced balance sheet.
Ziraat Bank’s balance sheet reached $200 billion, while the consolidated balance of Ziraat Finance Group exceeded $218 billion.
💰 Financing the economy surpasses 5.8 trillion TRY
The bank’s financial support for the economy grew significantly:
- Cash loans increased by 48% to 4.2 trillion TRY.
- Non‑cash loans grew 51% to 1.6 trillion TRY.
- Total lending surpassed 5.8 trillion TRY.
Over 60% of cash loans were issued in Turkish lira as part of a currency‑focused lending policy, with 84% of loans directed to the real economy, including agriculture, manufacturing, investment, employment, and exports.
🌾 Agricultural loans exceed 830 billion TRY
Ziraat Bank continues to play a key role in supporting the agricultural sector, with financing exceeding 830 billion TRY. The bank supports investments aimed at:
- Increasing agricultural productivity
- Mechanization and industrialization
- Sustainable development
- Women and young farmers’ projects
- Cooperatives and rural development
- Reducing carbon emissions and ensuring food security
🌍 Export support and global network
The bank actively supports SMEs, exporters, and manufacturers through cooperation with KGF, İGE, and KOSGEB, as well as international financial institutions.
Ziraat Bank’s share in foreign trade operations exceeded 19%, providing financing for around 25% of Turkey’s exports. The bank offers access to global markets through a network of 1,789 correspondent banks in 145 countries, along with subsidiaries and branches in 20 countries.
🏛️ Expanding international presence
Ziraat Bank is expanding strategically abroad. A branch in Tirana will soon open following approval from the Central Bank of Albania, bringing Ziraat Finance Group’s international presence to 21 countries.
💰 Deposits and international funding
Deposits remain the main funding source, totaling over 5.4 trillion TRY. In 2025, the bank raised $2.8 billion in sustainable syndicated loans and increased foreign funding to $30 billion via securitization, Eurobonds, REPOs, and bilateral agreements. Additionally, $1.1 billion in subordinated debt was secured.
📱 25 million active digital customers
Ziraat Bank continues to have the largest branch network in Turkey:
- 1,745 branches
- 7,894 ATMs
- The only bank in 370 towns and villages
Active digital customers reached around 25 million, with one in five digital banking transactions in Turkey carried out via the bank’s channels.
“Our goal is to be the leading bank not only in Turkey but across the region. Despite global volatility in 2025, we strengthened our leadership through a strong financial structure, extensive service network, and effective balance sheet management.”
He added that the 55% growth in equity will allow the bank to further pursue sustainable development strategies and expand its international footprint.
