Turkey Pet Microchipping Mandatory by December 2025

Mandatory Microchipping of Pets in Türkiye by December 31, 2025

🐾 Important for all pet owners in Türkiye
The country has entered the final stage of mandatory pet identification.

By December 31, 2025, all cat and dog owners must have their pets microchipped and registered in the system.

📍 Where to microchip and register your pet:

  • City and district Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry (İl/İlçe Tarım ve Orman Müdürlükleri)
  • Authorized veterinary clinics

⚠️ What will change from January 1, 2026:

  • Microchipping pets over 6 months old will only be possible through government institutions
  • The procedure will include administrative fines for owners
  • Additional sanctions may be applied for unregistered pets
If you have a pet — it's best to check your documents in advance to avoid problems in the new year.
