Turkey’s Machinery Exports Reach Record $28.7bn
Turkey’s Machinery Exports Hit Record $28.7bn in 2025
Turkey’s machinery exports reached a historic record of $28.7 billion in 2025, according to data released by the Machinery Exporters’ Association (MAİB). Notably, this growth occurred despite a decline in overall production volume.
Quality Over Quantity: The Price Factor
The export surge was driven not by higher output, but by a significant increase in the value of exported goods. The average export price per kilogram rose to an all-time high of $8.1.
Key Insight: This price milestone highlights a strategic shift in Turkish manufacturing toward higher-value, more technologically advanced machinery, moving away from competing solely on low cost.
Top Markets and Growth Leaders
Germany and the United States consolidated their positions as Turkey's most important machinery markets.
- Exports to Germany rose 6.8%, reaching $3.2 billion.
- Shipments to the United States grew by 9%, nearing the $2 billion mark.
Notable Surge: Exports to Syria saw extraordinary growth of 189%, totaling $130.6 million.
The strongest sectoral growth was recorded in:
- Engines and engine components.
- Construction and mining equipment.
- Household machinery.
Furthermore, exports of high-tech components saw remarkable increases:
- Turbines, jet engines, and hydraulic systems: up 17%.
- Food processing machinery: up 14%.
Strategic Adaptation to Global Markets
“These results show how Turkish manufacturers are adapting to global uncertainty by focusing on higher engineering content, greater added value and lower maintenance products, rather than competing on price alone,” said MAİB Chairman Kutlu Karavelioğlu.
Takeaway: The 2025 export figures signal a successful pivot in Turkey's machinery industry toward innovation and value-added production, strengthening its position in competitive global markets.
