Turkey Driving License Cost 2026: 45% Price Increase Expected

Turkey Driving License Cost 2026: 45% Price Increase Expected

Driving Schools in Türkiye to Increase Training Prices Starting January 2026

Driving schools in Türkiye are preparing for a surge in training costs as the New Year approaches.

Driving schools across the country are experiencing a sharp rise in demand, as many candidates rush to enroll before prices go up in 2026.

Price Increase Forecast

Starting in 2026, driver training is expected to rise by an average of 30%, while the total cost of obtaining a driver's license will increase by around 45%.

📈 What's Behind the Increase?

Following the release of October inflation data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the revaluation rate for 2026 was set at 25.49%.

Beginning 1 January 2026, the following will rise accordingly:

  • Taxes
  • Government fees
  • Administrative fines
  • Including the driver's license issuance fee

These adjustments automatically affect driving school prices and all related expenses.

🔺 Training Courses Will Increase by Around 30%

Tolga Abacı, President of the İzmir Driving Schools Association, explained that the annual price list is set in January. Inflation, rental costs, minimum wage increases, and the revaluation rate are all taken into account.

"Considering all these parameters, we expect about a 30% increase in training costs in 2026," Abacı stated.

💰 Total Expenses Will Rise to Nearly 10,000 TL

Current Cost: 7,460 TL | 2026 Cost: ~10,000 TL | Increase: 45%

According to Abacı, the average cost of obtaining a driver's license today is around 7,460 TL. Early next year, this may reach approximately 10,000 TL.

"Based on projections, the total cost of obtaining a license will increase by around 45%," he added.

🚗 Pre-New Year Rush

Abacı noted that interest in driving schools typically rises in autumn, but this year the spike is particularly strong. Right after TÜİK announced the new data, many candidates began submitting applications to secure enrollment before prices increase.

"Since September, we've seen a significant rise in applications. People want to register before the New Year to avoid the higher costs," he said.

💡 Tip: If you plan to obtain a driver's license in Türkiye, it's recommended to apply before the end of 2025 to save up to 45% of the total cost.
