Overcharged in Turkey? Where & How to Complain (2026 Guide)

Overcharged in Turkey? Where & How to Complain (2026 Guide)

👀 Where to Complain if You Were Overcharged in Turkey

Ahead of the holiday period, inspections across the country have been intensified. However, this does not eliminate the possibility of violations. If the amount at the checkout is higher than the price shown on the label, you have the right to take action.

📞 Where to File a Complaint

  • Alo 175 — consumer rights hotline
  • e-Devlet — submit a complaint online
  • CİMER — official application to public authorities
  • Provincial Directorate of Trade (Ticaret İl Müdürlüğü) in your city
Important: if there is a difference between the shelf price and the price on the receipt, the store is obliged to sell the product at the lower price.

Current Inspection Campaign

Inspections are currently being carried out across the country, covering supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants. Everything is being checked — from food products to household goods.

If a violation is confirmed, businesses may face significant fines.

During holiday periods, such cases tend to occur more frequently, but consumers now have real tools to protect their rights.

Your Rights as a Consumer

✓ The price on the shelf is the price you should pay. If a different amount appears at the register, you are entitled to request the lower price.

To ensure your complaint is processed quickly:

  • Take a photo of the shelf price label
  • Keep the original receipt
  • Note the store name, date, and time
  • Submit your complaint through one of the official channels listed above
