New Electricity Tariffs in Turkey in 2025

It should be emphasized that starting from February 2025, new rules for electricity tariff calculation have come into effect in Turkey. The main goal of these changes is to reduce the budgetary burden and ensure a fairer distribution of costs, especially among consumers with high energy consumption.

Key changes:

  • Household subscribers: The discounted tariff remains for those whose annual consumption does not exceed 5000 kWh. If consumption exceeds this limit, the cost of electricity will increase by 2 to 2.5 times.

  • Industrial and commercial sectors: The limit for discounted consumption has been reduced from 1 million kWh per year to 15,000 kWh.

  • Agriculture: Conditions for this sector remain unchanged, with the limit remaining at 100 million kWh per year.

According to Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, these changes will affect about 3% of households (approximately 1.2 million subscribers). The remaining 97% of consumers, whose average consumption is about 414 kWh per month, will continue to pay for electricity under the previous tariffs with government subsidies preserved.

This step is aimed at more efficient resource use and encouraging energy conservation among the population of Turkey.
