Asphalting Starts on Alanya's Atatürk Street: Phase One Underway
First Stage of Atatürk Street Asphalting Begins in Alanya
Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik has announced the start of the first phase of asphalting works on Atatürk Street as part of a major reconstruction project carried out in coordination with six infrastructure companies. The project is progressing according to schedule, with no delays reported.
Project Scope and Phased Approach
The initial phase focuses on the section between Alaaddin Keykubat Park and Türkmenbaşı Street. This staged method is designed to minimize disruption.
- The completed section will reopen to traffic before work continues on the next stage.
- Volume: 3,700 tons of hot asphalt will be laid.
- Length: The first phase covers a 1,300-meter stretch.
Infrastructure and Modernization Works
This project is far more than a simple resurfacing job. Critical underground upgrades have been prioritized to ensure long-term quality.
Key infrastructure including water mains, electricity cables, and natural gas lines in this section are largely complete, preventing the need for future excavations.
The modernization plan also includes:
- A comprehensive upgrade of street lighting extending to the National Sovereignty Stadium.
- Coordinated electrical works timed with road construction to avoid repeated road closures.
"This coordinated project is transforming the backbone of our city. By sequencing the infrastructure and asphalt work, we aim for efficiency and a lasting result for our citizens," stated Mayor Özçelik.
Timeline and Expected Outcome
The entire reconstruction project — encompassing all infrastructure, lighting, and urban improvements — is on track for completion by mid-May.
Travel Advisory: Residents and visitors are advised to plan alternative routes and expect temporary traffic adjustments around the active work zone on Atatürk Street.
Upon completion, the project promises to give the heart of Alanya a more modern, efficient, and refreshed appearance, improving daily life and the urban experience for all.
