The number of flights increases every year at the International Airport of Ataturk in Istanbul. So, according to the General Administration of Turkish State Airports (DHMI), the number of passengers who used the airport's services exceeded to 338 million 559 thousand people over the past five years. This is almost 2.5 times more than the population of Russia. Also, the figure exceeds the number of citizens residing in Mexico, Indonesia, America, Japan and a number of other states.

The construction of the new airport is 80% complete, which will soon open. And after the opening of the new airport, Ataturk Airport will only accept commercial flights, and Istanbul will become one of the largest aviation hubs in the world.
