Turkey Customs 2026: Complete Guide for Travelers

If you are planning to visit Turkey in 2026, it is important to be prepared for changes in customs regulations. Now the restrictions apply not only to air travel but also to entry by land and sea, as well as postal shipments. Ignorance of the new rules can result in fines, delayed luggage, or the need to pay a duty.

💶 Money

  • You can bring any amount of cash.
  • If the amount exceeds €10,000, it must be declared through the red channel.
  • Export without declaration is allowed only up to €10,000.
Tip: always carry a bank statement if you plan to bring large sums – it speeds up the process.

🚬 Tobacco (18+)

  • Cigarettes — up to 600 pcs (3 packs)
  • Cigarillos — up to 100 pcs
  • Cigars — up to 50 pcs
  • Tobacco — up to 250 g
Tip: keep tobacco products in their original packaging — customs checks seals and markings.

🍷 Alcohol (18+)

  • Strong alcohol (>22%) — up to 1 liter
  • Alcohol up to 22% — up to 2 liters
Tip: divide bottles among adults in your group to avoid exceeding limits.

🧴 Cosmetics

  • Up to 5 items per person
  • Each item — no more than 600 ml

🍫 Food

  • Tea, coffee, chocolate, sweets — up to 1 kg of each type
  • Vegetables — up to 3 kg
  • Meat and dairy products — prohibited

📱 Electronics and Gadgets

  • Mobile phone — 1 every 3 years (in hand luggage)
  • TVs >55" are subject to duty, even if the cost is below €430;

🛍 New Goods and Gifts

  • Up to €430 — duty-free
  • For children — up to €150
  • Over the limit: from the EU — 30% duty, from other countries — 60%
Tip: keep receipts for purchases — customs determines value without documentation.

🐾 Pets

  • Up to 2 pets per person
  • Up to 10 aquarium fish
Tip: have veterinary certificates and passports for pets — this speeds up the check.

⚠️ General Recommendations

  • Everything must be for personal use.
  • Commercial import without declaration is prohibited.
  • Postal packages are processed separately and subject to customs clearance.
  • Medicines are allowed only with a prescription.
  • Personal belongings sent by cargo or mail up to 30 kg may be exempt from duty if arrival coincides with your trip.
Tip: make a list of items in advance and check the limits for each type — it will save time and money.
