Family Residence Permit in Turkey: Key Rules & Refusals

Many still think that a family residence permit (Aile İkamet İzni) is just a formality: get married to a Turkish citizen → automatically receive the document. But the reality is different now.

📌 In 2025–2026:

• checks have become deeper
• rejections are more frequent
• fake marriages are actively detected

And it’s important to understand: an official marriage ≠ a guaranteed residence permit.

1. Fake marriage is the main reason for refusal

Even the slightest doubts - and the residence permit is not issued.

📍 What is checked:

• whether you live together
• whether the registered address matches
• whether there is a real shared life
• whether your interview answers match

👀 Cross-interviews are often conducted (çapraz mülakat).

Examples of questions:

• who wakes up earlier
• what your apartment looks like
• where things are kept

• actual residence
