Türkiye’s Ports Process 46.9 Million Tons of Cargo in June
Türkiye’s Ports Handle Nearly 47 Million Tons of Cargo in June
Türkiye's ports handled 46.91 million tons of cargo in June, highlighting the country's growing strength in maritime trade, logistics, and industrial production, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
The June figures demonstrate the continued expansion of Türkiye's maritime sector, supported by ongoing investments in port infrastructure and international trade.
Container Traffic Remains Strong
According to the minister, Turkish ports processed 1.19 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of container cargo during June.
In addition, ports handled:
- 13.25 million tons of solid bulk cargo.
- 6.77 million tons of general cargo.
Growth Continues Throughout 2026
The latest statistics follow another strong performance earlier this year. In April, Türkiye's ports handled 48.2 million tons of cargo and 1.18 million TEUs, marking the highest April figures ever recorded by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
During the first four months of the year, total cargo throughput increased by 2.1% compared with the same period last year, reaching 185.6 million tons.
Container traffic also continued to grow, rising 2.4% year-on-year to 4.55 million TEUs.
The steady increase in cargo volumes reflects Türkiye's expanding role as a regional logistics and maritime trade hub connecting Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Investments Continue to Strengthen Maritime Trade
Minister Uraloğlu stated that continued investments in port infrastructure are helping Türkiye strengthen its production capacity, exports, and international competitiveness.
Authorities expect further growth in cargo handling volumes as investments in maritime infrastructure and logistics continue across the country.
