Why Turkey’s Coffee Market Is Growing
Experts highlight two major drivers behind the rapid expansion of the coffee industry in Turkey.
- Starbucks expansion: Turkey has become Starbucks’ second-largest market in Europe, behind only the United Kingdom.
- Strong local brands: Turkish coffee chains are increasingly competing with global giants and expanding internationally.
A notable example is Espressolab, which opened the largest coffee shop in Europe in Istanbul. Other major local brands such as Kahve Dünyası are also rapidly growing and entering international markets.
Traditional Culture Meets Modern Coffee Trends
Analysts note that Turkey’s coffee culture reflects a unique balance between tradition and modern consumption habits.
While younger consumers increasingly prefer lattes, cappuccinos, and filter coffee, traditional Turkish coffee remains a central part of social life and cultural identity.
Turkey’s coffee market continues to show strong momentum, driven by both international chains and powerful local brands.
