Tourism in Turkey Grows by 109% Over 8 Years
Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, has reported a significant increase in the tourism sector’s revenue. According to him, over the past eight years, tourism income has grown by 109%, demonstrating the sector’s resilience even amid global instability.
Strategic Development of Tourism and Culture
Speaking at strategic party meetings focused on the Mediterranean region, the Minister highlighted that Turkey is actively strengthening its position in tourism and culture, despite rising global risks.
One of the key initiatives is the large-scale national project “Heritage for the Future”, aimed at advancing archaeological research and preserving the country’s cultural heritage.

The Minister emphasized that this project is the largest archaeological initiative in Turkey’s history.
Growth of Archaeological Discoveries and Museum Collections
Under the ongoing programs, more than 15,000 artifacts have been transferred to museums across the country. The total number of archaeological excavations reached 776 in 2025, with plans to reach 800 by 2026.
Turkey continues to actively develop its cultural heritage, turning it into a key driver for the tourism industry.
Investments in Tourism Infrastructure
Special attention is being given to the development of the Mediterranean region. Ersoy stated that from 2002 to 2025, total investments in culture and tourism reached approximately 26.9 billion Turkish lira.
