Istanbul Airport Strengthens Its Position in Luxury Aviation

Istanbul Airport Strengthens Its Position in Luxury Aviation

✈️ Istanbul is adding a new chapter to its growing luxury travel scene. The recently opened JETEX-IGA terminal at Istanbul Airport is already attracting high-net-worth travellers with a level of service designed specifically for private and VVIP aviation.

Since opening on May 5, 2026, the premium terminal has handled around 3,600 VVIP passengers, according to JETEX-IGA director Burcu Gures.

✨ More Than Just a Private Aviation Terminal

The new facility was created to fill a long-standing gap in Türkiye’s aviation market: a dedicated space where private aviation and ultra-luxury hospitality come together.

Instead of a traditional airport lounge, the terminal has been designed more like a private luxury hotel. Passengers can use:

  • 🏨 private suites
  • 🧖 spa and wellness facilities
  • 🍽️ private dining areas
  • 💼 conference and meeting facilities
  • 🎬 entertainment spaces
  • 🛋️ premium lounges

Around 3,600 VVIP passengers have already used the terminal since its opening.

🌍 Istanbul’s Location Is a Major Advantage

The terminal is benefiting from Istanbul Airport’s position between Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This makes the city particularly attractive to travellers who combine business, leisure and private aviation.

A significant share of the terminal’s international passengers comes from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The Middle East is another important market, with strong demand from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

The terminal also serves Turkish clients, private groups from Europe and the US, as well as guests travelling to Istanbul for major corporate and cultural events.

🇹🇷 A Growing Luxury Tourism Market

According to JETEX-IGA, the new facility is expected to contribute to Istanbul’s luxury tourism sector and strengthen the city’s international brand as a destination for high-end travellers.

The new terminal brings together private aviation and luxury hospitality, offering international VVIP travellers a dedicated experience in Istanbul.

For a city already positioned as a major international transit point, the development of specialised premium aviation infrastructure adds another layer to its appeal — particularly for travellers who value privacy, personalised service and seamless connections.

✈️ Istanbul’s Luxury Travel Appeal Continues to Grow

The launch of JETEX-IGA is part of a broader development of Istanbul’s premium tourism infrastructure. With its location, international flight network and growing range of high-end services, Istanbul is strengthening its position as a destination not only for mass tourism, but also for the global luxury travel market.
