Türkiye-US Trade Reaches $38.6 Billion
🇹🇷🇺🇸 Türkiye-US Trade Reaches $38.6 Billion as Both Sides Target $100 Billion
Trade between Türkiye and the United States continues to expand. Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said in New York that bilateral goods trade reached $38.6 billion in 2025.
According to Bolat, both countries are seeking to further increase trade through mutual investments, joint production and innovation, with business leaders highlighting a $100 billion bilateral trade target.
The US is a major trade and investment partner
Speaking at the 4th Turkish-American Business Gathering in New York, Bolat noted that the United States is Türkiye's second-largest export destination and fourth-largest import partner. He also said the US is the second-largest foreign direct investor in Türkiye.
Approximately 1 million American tourists visit Türkiye each year, according to Bolat.
Which sectors could see more cooperation?
Bolat said the two countries are looking at opportunities for mutual investment and cooperation in a number of sectors, including:
- renewable energy;
- digital economy and artificial intelligence;
- defense and aerospace;
- automotive;
- chemicals and pharmaceuticals;
- biotechnology and medical devices.
ASKON President Orhan Aydın said that reaching the $100 billion target could mean more Turkish companies entering the US market, increased American investment in Türkiye, joint production and technology transfer. These are his stated expectations rather than an achieved outcome.
Investment discussions in New York
Bolat also attended the 19th Türkiye Investment Conference, organized by DEİK, its Türkiye-US Business Council and Citi. The discussions focused on Türkiye's investment climate, economic structure and opportunities for international investors.
Separately, at the Global Turks New York Forum, Bolat highlighted the role of Turkish communities abroad in developing cultural and commercial connections between Türkiye and other countries.
Türkiye and the US currently have $38.6 billion in bilateral goods trade, while the long-term target discussed by both sides is $100 billion.
