Türkiye to Participate in Construction of Drone Manufacturing Plant in Bangladesh
Türkiye will take part in the construction of a new unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing facility in northern Bangladesh as part of a bilateral defense cooperation project.
The announcement was made by Bangladesh's State Minister for Local Government, Mir Shahe Alam, during a briefing with journalists.
The project reflects the continued expansion of defense and industrial cooperation between Türkiye and Bangladesh.
Plant to Be Built Near Bogura Air Base
According to the minister, Bangladesh's Prime Minister announced during a parliamentary session that the joint drone manufacturing facility with Türkiye will be built near the air base in Bogura, in the northern part of the country.
The location was selected due to its strategic importance and ongoing infrastructure development.
Part of a Larger Aviation Hub
The future production plant will be situated close to the local airport, which is currently being upgraded to meet international standards.
In addition, Bangladesh plans to establish a new Air Force base in the same area, creating a major aviation and defense cluster.
The combination of an international airport, a military air base and a drone manufacturing facility is expected to strengthen Bangladesh's domestic defense industry.
Expanding Defense Cooperation
The planned facility marks another step in the growing defense partnership between Türkiye and Bangladesh.
Türkiye has significantly expanded its defense industry in recent years, becoming an important exporter of unmanned aerial systems, missiles, armored vehicles and other military technologies.
The joint project is expected to contribute to the development of Bangladesh's domestic drone production capabilities while further strengthening bilateral industrial cooperation.
