Turkey and Netherlands Agree on New Economic Cooperation Road Map
Turkey and the Netherlands have agreed on a new roadmap to strengthen trade and economic cooperation following the sixth meeting of the Turkey–Netherlands Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) held in The Hague.
The new agreement is aimed at expanding bilateral trade, investment, and strategic cooperation in key sectors.
The meeting was co-chaired by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat and Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Sjoerdsma.
Key Areas of Cooperation
Under the JETCO framework, both sides discussed expanding cooperation across several strategic sectors.
- Bilateral trade and investment
- Energy and green transformation
- Agriculture and water management
- Transport and logistics
- Financial cooperation
- Support for small and medium-sized businesses
- Circular economy initiatives
The ministers also exchanged views on major European Union agenda items, including modernization of the customs union and sustainability policies.
Trade Between the Countries More Than Doubled
Economic ties between the two countries have strengthened significantly over the last decade.
Bilateral trade volume increased from $6.3 billion in 2015 to $13.3 billion in 2025.
The Netherlands remains Turkey’s largest foreign investor, with total investment stock reaching $39.2 billion.
At the same time, Turkish investments in the Netherlands have grown to $24.3 billion, reflecting deepening economic integration between the two countries.
Strategic Partnership Expands
The Netherlands continues to serve as one of Turkey’s most important economic partners in Europe, especially in trade, logistics, agriculture, energy, finance, and technology.
Officials say the newly signed JETCO protocol is expected to create fresh opportunities in trade, investment, and technology while strengthening partnerships between Turkish and Dutch companies.
The new roadmap is expected to support long-term cooperation and open the door to new joint projects in Europe and beyond.
