Erdoğan: Türkiye Stands for Peace, Working to End Iran Conflict 🇹🇷🕊️
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to peace amid the escalating US-Israeli conflict with Iran. Speaking on March 11 at an AK Party iftar in Ankara, Erdoğan emphasized that Ankara is making "intensive efforts to ensure guns fall silent, a ceasefire is achieved, and talks resume."
"We are trying to extinguish the fire before it spreads further, before more lives are lost."
Erdoğan highlighted Türkiye's diplomatic approach to the regional crisis, which has already claimed over 1,300 lives in Iran and caused widespread destruction in Israeli cities.
📢 Criticism of Israeli Leadership
Erdoğan also criticized Israeli leadership, noting that "even Israelis, spending nights in shelters, now call Netanyahu their biggest disaster since the Holocaust," reflecting growing criticism as the conflict continues to affect civilians heavily.
⚡ Escalating Conflict
The confrontation escalated after US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, killing over 1,300 people, including civilians and schoolchildren. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US forces, with thousands of projectiles launched and many intercepted by regional defense systems.
🇹🇷 Türkiye's Mediator Role
Türkiye, Erdoğan stressed, is committed to peaceful solutions and preventing further bloodshed, positioning itself as a mediator in the crisis.
