Abkhazian Piano Duo and Orchestra Debut in Istanbul

Abkhazian Piano Duo and Chamber Orchestra to Perform in Istanbul for the First Time

A unique musical event will take place in Istanbul as the Piano Duo, accompanied by the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Abkhazia, performs in the city for the first time. The concert will also feature musicians from Türkiye and Russia, adding an international dimension to the program.

The concert, titled Piano Duo & Orchestra, will be held on June 26 at the İnal Aydınoğlu Kültür Merkezi (İAKM).

The piano duo, consisting of People’s Artist of Abkhazia Ninel Bzhania and Honored Artist of Abkhazia Guliza Avidzba, will present a program featuring works by Abkhazian, Russian, and Turkish composers.

The orchestra will be conducted by David Terzian, Chief Conductor of the State Chamber Orchestra of Abkhazia and People’s Artist of the republic. Turkish conductor Orhan Salliel is also expected to participate, leading the Turkish repertoire segment of the concert.

The project brings together musicians from several countries and is the result of cultural cooperation between institutions in Abkhazia and Türkiye.

The program includes the best works from the ensemble’s 10-year history and marks the anniversary of the Piano Duo & Orchestra project.

According to Ninel Bzhania, the Istanbul concert is a landmark event for the ensemble and was made possible through close cooperation between cultural organizations and partners in Türkiye.

“We are happy to present this project in Istanbul. It is a platform where Abkhazian, Russian, and Turkish cultures come together,” she said.

The concert is expected to become one of the key cultural events of the season, attracting classical music enthusiasts in Istanbul.
