January was the most “cultured” month in the past 7 years

The first month of the new year has become one of the most “cultured” month in the last seven years. In total, over 877,000 people visited museums and various historical places in January, spending more than 14.5 million Turkish Liras. And this is 236% more than the same period of last year – a record figure, the best since 2011.

Also, a record number of Müzekart museum maps was sold in January, through which more than three hundred state museums of Turkey can be visited.

Tourists mostly visited the Cathedral of Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Museum in Istanbul, the ruins of the ancient Hierapolis in Pamukkale and the ancient city of Ephesus which is not far from Izmır.
