Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Parts of Türkiye on July 25

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a weather warning for July 25, forecasting heavy and locally very heavy rainfall across several regions of the country. Meteorologists warn that intense precipitation could lead to flash floods, localized flooding, and traffic disruptions.

Residents and visitors are advised to closely monitor official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.

Istanbul and the Marmara Region Under Close Watch

According to CNN TÜRK meteorology consultant Professor Orhan Şen, a sharp drop in temperatures combined with an active weather front will bring unstable conditions across northwestern Türkiye.

In Istanbul, temperatures are expected to fall by nearly 10°C within a few days, reaching approximately 24°C. This rapid cooling is expected to coincide with periods of intense rainfall.

Meteorologists estimate rainfall intensity could exceed 10 millimeters per hour, while total precipitation over a 12-hour period may reach 80–90 millimeters in some locations.

Regions Facing the Highest Risk

Weather forecasts indicate that the most severe rainfall is expected in the following areas:

  • Istanbul
  • The entire Marmara Region
  • Bartın
  • Zonguldak
  • Sinop
  • Samsun
  • Giresun

The western Black Sea region remains under particular observation due to its history of severe flooding in previous years.

If weather conditions develop as forecast, authorities may issue an orange-level weather warning for some provinces.

Safety Recommendations

Authorities advise both residents and tourists to take extra precautions during the period of severe weather.

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain whenever possible.
  • Do not park vehicles in low-lying areas or near riverbeds.
  • Stay away from flooded roads, tunnels, and underpasses.
  • Follow updates from the Turkish State Meteorological Service and local authorities.
  • Exercise caution near rivers, valleys, steep slopes, and other flood-prone areas.

Travel Advice

Travelers planning to visit or move around Türkiye over the coming days are encouraged to check the latest weather forecasts before departure and prepare for possible transportation delays caused by adverse weather conditions.

Meteorologists emphasize that weather conditions may change rapidly. Staying informed through official forecasts is the best way to minimize risks during periods of heavy rainfall.

By following official recommendations and monitoring weather updates, residents and visitors can significantly reduce the risks associated with heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
