Türkiye Launches Free Smoking Cessation Medication Program for Up to 1 Million People
Türkiye has launched a nationwide program that will allow up to one million people to receive smoking cessation medications free of charge.
The initiative is available to eligible individuals regardless of whether they have social health insurance, making treatment more accessible to those who want to quit smoking.
What Treatments Are Available?
Under the new program, the Turkish Ministry of Health will provide several medically approved therapies designed to help people stop smoking.
- Nicotine replacement therapy.
- Medications containing bupropion.
- Varenicline.
- Medications containing cytisine.
The medications will be purchased by the Turkish Ministry of Health and distributed through public healthcare institutions across the country.
Program Already in Effect
The decision has officially entered into force following its publication in the Official Gazette.
People wishing to participate in the program should contact public healthcare providers for information about eligibility, consultations and access to treatment.
