Türkiye Will Not Introduce a Mileage Tax for Electric Cars

Türkiye has officially denied reports about a possible new tax for electric vehicle owners based on the number of kilometers driven.

The Directorate of Communications (DMM) said that information circulating on social media about such a tax is not accurate.

According to the authority, government institutions are not working on introducing a tax whose amount would depend on the number of kilometers driven.

At present, there is no official confirmation of a mileage-based tax for electric vehicles.

For now, electric vehicle owners in Türkiye do not need to worry about an additional payment based on the distance they drive.

Taxes on vehicles and possible changes to transport-related charges are periodically discussed, but in this case DMM specifically stated that government institutions are not working on a mileage-based tax for electric vehicles.

The clarification is also a reminder to check official sources when new tax measures are discussed online, as information about possible changes can spread quickly on social media before any official decision is made.
