Turkish Central Bank Revises Inflation Forecast, Confirms Tight Policy Stance

By Daily Sabah with Agencies

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) has updated its year-end inflation forecast to a range of 15%–21%, while keeping the interim target steady at 16%, CBRT Governor Fatih Karahan announced on Thursday.

Speaking during the presentation of the bank’s quarterly inflation report in Istanbul, Karahan highlighted that recent developments require maintaining a tight monetary policy stance. He emphasized that the bank is prepared to use all available policy tools to achieve disinflation.

The updated forecast reflects an upward adjustment from the previous 13%–19% range announced earlier this year. Governor Karahan noted that food prices were a key driver of inflation in January, and their impact is expected to continue into February.

"The central bank is committed to price stability and will take all necessary measures to control inflation amid ongoing economic challenges," said Governor Karahan.

The central bank’s cautious approach underscores its commitment to price stability amid ongoing economic challenges.
