Turkey Reports Record Gold Coin Output in Early 2026

🥇 Turkey Sets Record Gold Coin Production in 2026

Turkey’s Mint has reported record-breaking gold coin production in the first quarter of 2026, reaching more than 5.1 million coins. This marks one of the highest output levels in recent years, reflecting strong domestic demand for gold as both an investment and a savings tool.

📊 Quarter-Ounce Coins Lead Demand

The most popular category was quarter-ounce gold coins, which accounted for nearly 3 million units. These coins are widely used in Turkey for personal savings and also purchased as jewelry due to their practical size and liquidity.

  • 4.09 million – jewelry-style gold coins
  • 1.03 million – minted investment coins
  • 8,000 – Reşat historical coins

🏆 Investment Demand Led by “Birlik” Coins

Among investment-grade coins, the “birlik” (1 gold coin) was the most in-demand format, with nearly 1 million units produced in the quarter.

Strong demand highlights continued interest in gold as a stable store of value amid economic uncertainty.

⚙️ Over 19 Tons of Gold Used

The total production required more than 19 tons of gold. The Mint used 24-carat raw material, which was refined into coins with a final purity of 22 carats.

This high level of output underscores Turkey’s ongoing position as one of the most active gold markets, driven by both cultural tradition and economic conditions that favor safe-haven assets.
