Owners of apartments, houses, shops, and land plots across Turkey have been reminded of an important deadline for property tax payments (emlak vergisi).
Only 7 days remain until the end of the first installment payment period for 2026.
What You Need to Know
- The tax applies to owners of apartments, houses, commercial properties, and land plots
- The first installment for 2026 must be paid by 31 May
- The second installment will be collected in November
- Payments can be made via municipalities (belediye), e-Devlet, or municipal online services
Who May Be Exempt From Property Tax
- Pensioners owning a single property under 200 m²
- People with disabilities
- Unemployed individuals without income
- Widows and homemakers without income
- Veterans and families of martyrs
However, eligible individuals must submit an application to the municipality in order to receive tax exemption.
Authorities warn that late payments will result in penalties and interest charges.
The reminder is part of routine municipal notifications aimed at ensuring timely tax payments and avoiding financial penalties for property owners.
