The new regulation establishes a total of 24 weeks of maternity leave for public sector employees, distributed to prioritize the health of both mother and child:
- Pre-natal: 8 weeks of leave before the expected date of birth.
- Post-natal: 16 weeks of leave following the delivery.
- Flexibility: With formal medical approval, employees have the option to continue working until 2 weeks before the delivery date.
This legislative shift is designed to encourage family growth and ensure that new mothers have ample time for recovery and bonding without professional pressure.
Enhanced Support for Foster Families
To encourage the development of foster care, the law introduces specific rights for families welcoming a child into their home:
- Placement Leave: Foster parents are now entitled to 10 days of leave immediately following the placement of a child.
- Insurance & Rights: Families have the option for voluntary insurance contributions and full access to social rights and additional state assistance.
Social and Economic Support Measures
The draft law outlines a tiered financial assistance structure based on the specific needs of the child:
- Age-Based Benefits: Financial support amounts will be calculated based on the child’s age and education level.
- Early Childhood: Dedicated monthly assistance is provided for children up to the age of 2.
- Lump-Sum Payments: Families may receive additional one-time payments up to twice per year.
- Long-Term Support: Assistance continues until age 18, and is extended to age 25 if the individual remains in education.
Compliance Warning: The government has established strict accountability measures. Any benefits obtained through false documentation or misrepresentation must be repaid in full with interest, and legal action will be taken against violators.
