Electronic Price Tags Arrive in Turkish Supermarkets

Electronic Price Tags Arrive in Turkish Supermarkets

Electronic Price Tags Are Being Introduced in Turkey

Supermarkets in Turkey have started testing electronic price tags, allowing product prices to be updated instantly прямо on store shelves.

The first retail chains to launch the system are Migros and CarrefourSA.

The new system is designed to help stores update prices much faster without manually replacing paper labels.

Due to ongoing inflation, product prices in Turkey can change frequently, making traditional price tag updates slower and less efficient.

Why Some Shoppers Are Concerned

  • Prices may change while customers are shopping
  • Promotional offers could disappear instantly
  • Discount tracking may become more difficult

Consumers worry that dynamic pricing could make shopping less predictable.

Retailers state that the shelf price and checkout price will always match, while pricing errors are expected to decrease significantly.

For now, the technology remains in the testing phase in Turkey.

In the future, paper price tags may almost completely disappear from Turkish supermarkets.
