SGK Outpatient Consultation Fees Increase in Turkey from July 1
New co-payment fees for outpatient medical visits under Turkey’s public health insurance system, SGK, officially came into effect on July 1. The updated pricing was published in the official government gazette.
The new fee structure affects millions of patients receiving healthcare services through the national insurance system.
Updated Outpatient Fees
Patients visiting hospitals under SGK coverage will now pay the following co-payment amounts:
- Level II public hospitals — 50 Turkish lira (previously 26 Turkish lira)
- Training and research hospitals and public university hospitals — 90 Turkish lira (previously 26 Turkish lira)
- Foundation university hospitals — 100 Turkish lira (previously 26 Turkish lira)
- Private clinics operating under SGK agreements — 100 Turkish lira (previously 60 Turkish lira)
Family Doctor Visits Remain Free
Visits to family doctors remain completely free of charge.
The family doctor system continues to serve as the first point of contact for non-emergency medical care across Turkey.
Referral Can Reduce Costs
Patients who first consult their family doctor and obtain an official referral before visiting a hospital may benefit from reduced co-payment fees.
In most cases, hospital co-payments are reduced by 50 percent when an official referral is provided.
Health experts advise patients to use family doctor services whenever possible to reduce medical costs and improve access to coordinated care.
