Marmaray Launches Night Trains Every Day in Istanbul
Marmaray in Istanbul Launches Night Services Every Day
The Marmaray railway line, which connects the European and Asian sides of Istanbul, has officially introduced an expanded night service schedule operating seven days a week.
Previously, additional night trains were available only on Fridays and Saturdays. Now, the service has been extended to daily operation in response to increasing passenger demand and the need for improved night-time mobility in the megacity.
Authorities stated that the decision aims to improve transport accessibility and strengthen integration between city and intercity rail systems.
Better connection with high-speed trains
The updated schedule is also designed to provide smoother transfers from the high-speed train network (YHT) operating between Ankara and Istanbul.
Passengers arriving from Ankara on the 19:50 high-speed train and reaching Söğütlüçeşme station at 23:58 can now directly transfer to Marmaray without long waiting times.

The expansion of night services aims to improve urban mobility and reduce travel delays during late hours.
Improving Istanbul’s transport efficiency
The extension of the Marmaray night schedule is part of broader efforts to enhance the efficiency of Istanbul’s transport system and respond to growing demand for late-night travel across the city.
Officials emphasized that the new system will help better coordinate urban rail operations with intercity connections, significantly reducing transfer times for passengers.
The Marmaray line remains one of the most important transport links in Istanbul, connecting two continents through an underwater rail tunnel under the Bosphorus.
