Antalya Keeps Growing, But Families Are Getting Smaller

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published new demographic data for Antalya for 2025. The city continues to grow rapidly due to incoming migration, but at the same time birth rates are declining and divorce rates remain above the national average.

Population Growth Continues

Antalya’s population has reached 2,778,436 people, increasing by approximately 55,000 residents over the past year.

The main driver of this growth remains migration:

• 96,000 people moved to Antalya in 2025
• 67,600 people left the city
• Net migration gain: 28,400 people

This confirms Antalya’s position as one of the fastest-growing cities in Turkey in terms of internal and external migration.

Birth Rates Continue to Decline

Despite population growth, birth rates in Antalya are steadily decreasing:

• 2023 — 9.6 births per 1,000 people
• 2024 — 9.1
• 2025 — 8.7

This figure remains below the national average in Turkey, which stands at 10.4 births per 1,000 people.

The decline in birth rates highlights a gradual demographic shift in one of Turkey’s most dynamic coastal cities.

Divorce Rates Above National Average

Marriage stability indicators in Antalya also show noticeable differences compared to the rest of the country.

• Antalya — 3.21 divorces per 1,000 people
• Turkey average — 2.26 divorces per 1,000 people

This places Antalya above the national average in terms of divorce rates.

Marriage Age Remains Relatively High

The average age of first marriage in Antalya also reflects changing social patterns:

• Men — 28.9 years
• Women — 26 years

Demographic Shift in Progress

Overall, Antalya presents a contrasting picture: while the city continues to attract thousands of new residents each year, its internal family structure is gradually changing, with lower birth rates and higher divorce levels shaping its demographic profile.
