Ankara Introduces Forest Entry Ban Over Fire Risk
Forest Access Banned in Ankara Due to Wildfire Risk
Authorities in Ankara have introduced strict new safety measures following an increased risk of forest fires during the upcoming summer season.
From 1 June to 30 September 2026, public access to forest areas will be prohibited. The only exceptions are officially designated recreation areas, national parks, and nature parks.
New Restrictions Introduced
In addition to the entry ban, authorities have imposed several safety restrictions:
- lighting fires, barbecues, and using grills outside designated areas is prohibited
- camping and pitching tents in forest areas is not allowed
- burning dry grass, branches, or waste is forbidden
- fireworks and any open flame sources near forests are strictly banned
Reason for the Decision
Officials stated that the measures are aimed at preventing forest fires during the high-risk summer period, when dry weather and high temperatures significantly increase fire hazards.
Authorities warned that violations of the rules may result in fines and other administrative penalties.
The decision reflects growing concerns about wildfire prevention and environmental protection across Turkey’s capital region.
